Close Contact Saddle – Sporting Attire

Should You Choose an All Purpose or Close Contact Saddle?

An all purpose or close contact saddle is probably the most essential of all equestrian equipment, and choosing between the two is a crucial question as well. Saddles are designed for protection, and can be a requisite to a comfortable riding posture. They come in a few types, though, and for neophytes, choosing one over the others might not be that easy.

Beginners are advised to go for the more conventional all purpose saddle, and move on to a saddle for close contact when the rider has gained enough experience to handle its distinctive qualities. For one, the close contact variant has minimal knee rolls and a flatter seat than the all purpose saddle. The leg of the rider gets more direct contact with the side of the horse when this saddle type is used. The upside of this though is that a rider must be more mindful of leg positioning, thus requiring more intensive bouts of training.

Whether you’re in the beginning stages of your equestrianism or a skilled, secure rider looking to upgrade to a close contact saddle, TheEquestrianCorner.com can fulfill your horseback riding requirements.
